last night I dreamed I was in a Vermeer portrait session.
an amber-colored atmosphere pervaded everything and it felt like being immersed in eternity.

last night I dreamt of a woman who was caring for a fig tree.
it reminded me of home, last night I dreamt of a mountain goat that turned into stone as it grew old.
it's really true that we become what we spend the most time with.

I dreamt of a solo cello concert for two nuns whose faces were completely covered.
the therapeutic music transported them into a state of ecstasy and contemplation.
they tried to discover and decode the religious and esoteric nature of the music.

last night I dreamt of a chamber trio playing the melody of an ancient dance on a lake on a moonless night.
three girls, a pianist, a violinist, and a cellist, submerged in mid-water, played this melody in ten beats that seemed familiar to me from other lives.
last night I dreamt of a party on the lake and white fires appearing on the surface of the water.
we couldn't explain how fire could live in water and when we touched it we didn't get burned.
that's how life is sometimes inexplicable and shatters our certainties.
